Makena Ranch - Ultimate Paniolo Experience

Makena Ranch brings "The Ultimate Paniolo Experience" to the Makena Beach & Golf Resort's 1,800 acres on Maui's Southern Shore. Riders embark on a journey along the slopes of Mt. Haleakala, the worlds largest dormant volcano, where they mingle with Paniolo - or cowboys - and their cattle.

Offering an intimate setting to enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Molokini Crater and the neighboring Hawaiian Islands, riders spend two hours winding through ranchland and a beautiful kiawe forest. As the riders climb, they get a sweeping overlook of Humpback Whales breaching in the Pacific Ocean (in season, December - May), as well as sightings of Axis Deer.

Riders end the tour with an optional barbecue cookout at the rustic Makena Ranch, which offers views of Molokini, Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokai.

Rides available Monday - Saturday. No rides on Sunday

Rides:
Morning & afternoon tours. Each ride is estimated at 2 hours long.

Times:
Morning Ride - 9:30 am / Check In Time - 8:45 am
Afternoon Ride - 12:30 pm / Check In Time: If participating in BBQ lunch - 11:15 / If not participating in BBQ lunch - 12:00 pm

Refreshments:
Bottled water will be provided along the ride.

Number Of Riders:
Six riders per ride (Larger groups can be accommodated with prior notice)

Recommended Attire:
Jeans, shirt/top, covered shoes, hat recommended and don't forget your sunscreen.

Weight Limits:
Maximum weight 250 lbs. / No minimum weight limit

Age Limits:
Minimum age 7 yrs.

BBQ Lunch (Optional):
Choose between free-range chicken and a Maui Cattle Co. half pound burger, grilled to order. Sides include corn on the cob, macaroni salad, sweet potato salad and Maui potato chips, topped off with a chocolate brownie.

Schedule:

Morning Ride
8:45 am - Check in; riders meet at Makena Beach & Golf Resort Porte Cochere to take shuttle to Makena Ranch.
9:00 am - Shuttle arrives at Makena Ranch, guests sign waivers, have a briefing and mount horses.
9:30 am - Ride commences.
11:30 am - Ride finishes and the Shuttle picks up riders who are not staying for the BBQ lunch.
12:30 pm - Riders arrive back at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort.

Afternoon Ride
11:15 am - Check in; riders who are taking the BBQ lunch option meet at Makena Beach & Golf Resort Porte Cochere to take shuttle to Makena Ranch.
11:30 am - Shuttle arrives at Makena Ranch for the BBQ lunch.
11:45 - Check in; riders who are NOT taking the BBQ lunch option meet at Makena Beach & Golf Resort Porte Cochere to take shuttle to Makena Ranch.
12:00 pm - Shuttle arrives at Makena Ranch.
12:15 pm - Guests sign waivers, have a briefing and mount horses.
12:30 pm - Ride commences.
2:30 pm - Rides finishes.
2:45 pm - Shuttle pick up.
3:00 pm - Riders arrive back at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort.
