Maui Sunriders - Summit Tour

Nearly two million people visit the Summit of Haleakala each year, experiencing a world of incredible scenery and diverse landscape virtually unchanged by human intervention. Like a snapshot in time, the valley of cinder cones and lava flows reminds us of the striking diversity of another world, formed by hundreds of thousands of years of increasingly dominant forces of volcanic activity, erosion by rain, wind, and ice, giving shape to the landscape we see today. Haleakala, a volcano over one million years old, last erupted about two centuries ago, near the coast at Makena, on the south side of Maui. The crater is 7.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide and is referred to as "The Wilderness Area" since it is neither a "crater" nor a "caldera", but a heavily eroded volcanic mountain. The floor lies 3,000 feet below the summit and covers an area of 19 square miles. After the land tour of the National Park enjoy your bike ride through beautiful up-country Maui, all the way to sea level.

They give you an opportunity to experience the joy and freedom of an independent adventure on Maui. You ride at your own pace. You choose your stops. Your fun has no limits!

Maui Sunriders believes the time you spend on Maui should be without inconvenience or disappointments. They do their very best to help you in keeping this time as enjoyable as possible. Maui Sunriders counts on tourism for their livelihood, so it is important for them to know that when you leave at the end of your vacation you'll have only pleasant memories of Maui and its people. They strive to pass on the spirit of aloha which is the very essence of the islands.

Experience the joy, freedom, and independence of riding at your own pace, free to stop and go where and when you want, from the slope of Haleakala to the sea for the longest unguided ride on Maui. All tours include: TREK mountain bike, helmet, rain/wind gear, back-pack, gloves, bike lock, route map and safety rules. Park entrance fee (for all National Park tours)
